How can I be sure my data is safe with you?
We will store your files on two separate drives which gives you a backup of your backup, so you can rest assured that your data will be safe. Your data can also be optionally encrypted (if using our software or software which supports this feature), meaning that no one can view it except you - not even us!
So what happens if I do lose something?
Depending on the size of your backup, we will either mail you a DVD of your files (which is yours to keep!), or an external, USB hard drive containing your encrypted data (which you'll need to send back to us within two weeks of receiving it). Using the media we send, you will be able to easily restore your data. In case of an emergency scenario (i.e. you need an important proposal immediately), we will help you download the file or folder from our server via secure FTP.
Can I upgrade my plan any time?
Absolutely! You can request a storage upgrade any time by contacting us.
What if I decide I want to cancel my service?
You can cancel your service any time. If you are paying month-to-month, the cancellation will take effect at the end of the current month. If you are paying by year, the service will remain available to you through the end of your current subscription.
What if I need assistance setting up the software on my computer?
We will provide up to 30 minutes of free assistance over the phone, if needed. If you need additional assistance, we can provide it at our standard rate of $75 per hour. If you are within our service area (Fredericksburg, VA), you can also contact us to schedule a site visit for an additional charge.
Do I have to use your software to use your service?
No. You can use any software that supports backing up to a sFTP server, although you may not enjoy as rich of an experience. The software we offer is called SuperFlexible File Synchronizer, and we've found it to offer the best features. There are other similar programs, however, that will be adequate. Some examples are SyncBackPro and Backup-Premium. Other features to look for when selecting a back up program are features like: encryption (keeps your data safe), incremental backups (only backs up changed files, or even changes in changed files, so that your backups complete quickly after the first run), and scheduling or monitoring (allows you to schedule when your backups run or monitor your files and folders for changes, so that backups occur immediately). Also, note that if you wish to backup multiple machines using alternative software, you may need to purchase multiple software licenses.
